This is how much you are loved.
That you could be the one holding the hammer and nails that held Jesus on the cross, and He would be the one holding you up. Since we have all sinned we all hold that hammer and those nails. Jesus looks you in the eyes today and says you are loved, you are forgiven.
Most of the problems that people experience are because they don’t know how much they’re loved. Every worry, every fear, and every uncertainty comes from not knowing God’s love. 1 John 4:18 says that perfect love drives out fear, the only place where perfect love is present is in God’s presence.
Knowing God’s love is not knowing about His love, or singing songs about His love, or knowing Bible verses about His love, it’s about an encounter with Him. Paul prayed that we would all know His love which surpasses our knowledge, because it’s experiential love, it’s perfect love. One of the reasons that I don’t need proof of God is because I have encountered Him in such a powerful, real way. We will never gain an understanding of God’s love from other people, from books or movies. Information can build upon our understanding, but information cannot be our foundation, information will not transform our life. Only God can bring us into perfect love. Today churches and Christians need to bring others into an encounter with God, there is simply no other way to know His love. People can attend a church every Sunday and never have an actual encounter with God. I believe that the generation that needs everything to be proven by fact will discover God and His perfect love through powerful encounters with God Himself.
Last week God said to me “Nick, you have no idea how much I love you.” I need to be reminded of that every few months. It’s easy to forget or neglect God’s love and then the worry and fears start to slip into our life. Today I pray that all of us would encounter God’s love in a fresh, real way. I pray that we would have a real encounter with the One who is perfect love. That His love would be an experience that changes us forever, and not just something we hear about or know in our head.
“I ask that you’ll know the love of Christ that is beyond knowledge so that you will be filled entirely with the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:19
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” 1 John 4:7-11
